Owner of the "Aesura" Bass
Joe Martinez, Floridian bass player extraordinaire, is documenting his musical evolution under the moniker Journey of Bass.
Joe focuses on finding his own style and voice slightly more than just holding down the groove. He fuses melodic slap bass, open tunings, and unique rhythmic patterns to create a fresh take on bass playing. Drawing inspirations from funk, jam bands, pop punk, math rock, looping and more.
His major influences include: Mark Hoppus, Kristian Dunn, Silian Rail, Aram Bedrosian, Rob Derhak, Keller Williams, Grateful Dead, Umphrey's McGee and more.
Joe is currently working on his first bass-centric record, set to release early-mid 2022. You can hear more of Joe's songs (and his Xylem bass) on Spotify, YouTube and Instagram.
You can purchase posters (Joe is an artist in addition to being a musician), lessons and more at the Journey of Bass website.
