The Mako Sica bass includes two Herrick "one humbucker per string" (1HBPS) pickups and a Lustihand Devices Double NFP Special preamp. Together these pickups and preamp impart a sound to this bass that is very similar to Wal and Alembic basses. You'll notice that at certain preamp settings the bass almost sounds like it has a "wah" effect applied. This pickup/preamp combination is very versatile and a variety of tonality can be created with this bass. Each sound sample below includes a few different settings of the preamp at each pickup position, in both slap style and finger style playing.
